Some
scholars name it as the night of power or night of destiny but one thing for sure,
Lailatul Qadr is a divine night awarded by Allah only to the followers of Rasulullah.
The beauty of this night is unmatched. Its significance was mentioned in the
Quran in one complete surah:
1. Verily! We have sent it (this Qur'an) down in the night of Al-Qadr (Decree)
2. And what will make you know what the night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is?
3. The night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is better than a thousand months (i.e. worshipping Allah in that night is better than worshipping Him a thousand months, i.e. 83 years and 4 months).
4. Therein descend the angels and the Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel)] by Allah's Permission with all Decrees,
5. Peace! (All that night, there is Peace and Goodness from Allah to His believing slaves) until the appearance of dawn.
(Al Qadr:1 – 4)
This
night is better than a thousand months. This means, every deed that we do within
this night will be better than a 1000 months or 83 years 4 months. The reward of 2
rakaats prayer on that night will be given as if we prayed 2 rakaats every
night for more than 83 years, and it might be better. Now, can you imagine,
if we fill the night with lots of prayers, du’a, istighfar, dzikr and Quran. The
reward is just unthinkable. Subhanallah!
If
a wealthy and generous person promise that whoever goes to the mosque to
perform Isya’, taraweeh and tahajjud in the last 10 days of Ramadhan will be
given ten thousand dollar every night and said that he will give a triple of
that amount in one of the night and kept the night as a secret to himself, what
you think will happen?
Surely,
the mosque will be full of people; those who work at night will apply for leave
or quit their job. Students will skip classes if necessary, everyone will try
to attend and make it as priorities even if they have to walk for 20 kilometres.
Every night will be full of people that are waiting for the special reward.
Now,
the reward for Lailatul Qadr is far better than that. We are talking about
heavens that are greater than the sky and the earth that we live in now. We are
talking about a place where we will live eternally, happily ever after! And the
one that make the promise is the lord of all the heaven and the earth that never break his promise. Only the ignorant will not be passionate to seek the
reward.
At
the time of Rasulullah, he will leave everything during these special moments, even his wives. It
is said in many hadith that Rasulullah focused only on iktikaf (staying at
mosque) and will pray a long prayer every night. It is also reported in another authentic hadith that Rasulullah stayed in mosque for the whole 10 days.
This
is the sunnah of the prophet, and we should try our best to follow his footsteps. If we cannot do it for the whole 10 days, try to focus on the odd night
because it is said in a hadith that Lailatul Qadr may appear in the odd night
of the last ten days of Ramadhan.
As
believers, we should not missed this golden opportunities because we might not
know whether Allah will grant us another chance to meet Ramadhan again. What
would we do if a doctor said that we have been diagnosed with cancer and will
not be able to live until next Ramadhan.
This might be our last chance. Let's try our best and hopes that Allah will grant us his forgiveness and taqwa and the chance to meet Lailatul Qadr.
This might be our last chance. Let's try our best and hopes that Allah will grant us his forgiveness and taqwa and the chance to meet Lailatul Qadr.
Insyaallah.
